Viral video: 'Disappointed' thief leaves Rs 20 for eatery owner as place had nothing to steal
HYDERABAD: A recent robbery attempt at a Maheshwaram eatery took a comical turn after a disappointed thief walked out of it grumpily, leaving behind Rs 20 for the hotel owners. His grouse: The place had nothing at all for him that he could steal.

In a video of this amusing act that’s now gone viral, the masked robber after breaking into the establishment, only to be disappointed by the lack of valuables, is seen expressing his frustration into the close circuit camera set up inside the eatery.
It shows him looking around the place for a few minutes and then giving up his chase – flustered. He is then seen taking a water bottle out from the refrigerator, pulling out his wallet to get the money and then throwing it down on the small table, before walking out in a huff.
While the incident took place a week ago, it came to light only on Friday.
“A case of attempted theft has been registered and investigation is underway. We suspect that the masked robber could be an old offender,” said Venkateshwarlu, station house officer of Maheshwaram police station.
According to Maheshwaram police, the suspect broke into the hotel late in the night and searched for money in the counters.
When he didn’t find anything, he turned towards the closed-circuit television camera, folded his hands in disappointment and left after paying for the water bottle that he had ‘looted’.
