New white-ball skippers for Team India expected to emerge under Coach Gautam Gambhir
It is expected that Rohit Sharma will be offered rest as the senior players' prime focus would remain in red-ball cricket, allowing a chance for the new players to compete in the white-ball formats. Since Rohit is not expected to be a part of the upcoming white-ball series, some new faces are expected to lead the side. Young stars are expected to feature in that series, and with Rohit, Kohli and Jadeja's retirement, a fresh face will lead the side in T20Is.
The BCCI sources have revealed to ANI that Hardik Pandya may be the man who will lead the national side in the T20 format. Moreover, for the ODIs, wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul is expected to lead the team in the ODI, as they believe he is a capable run-getter in the longer format of the game.
"Hardik Pandya is all set to lead the Indian team in the T20, Rohit Sharma's announced his retirement. Hardik is also unlikely to be rested for the upcoming series vs Sri Lanka.
"KL Rahul will lead the Indian team in the absence of Rohit Sharma as the board believes he makes runs in the longer format," Sources have said as per reports.
